adios, veronica

it's really difficult to put into words the rage I feel concerning CW's decision to cancel VM...what network in their right mind would cancel one of the best written shows on the tube? NOBODY writes dialogue like the VM writers, and television had not seen snark like that in a LONG time (but alas...good dialogue seems to mean nothing these days...just look under Fox; Arrested Development).

Tuesday nights, for the past two years, have always been full of anticipation of VM's airing @ 9pm...although I largely wasn't home for those nights, I would tape it and watch it once I got home. Yep...I was that hooked! The mysteries were always interesting, and every long term fan of the show loved the season-long mystery, which always made the finales so frickin' incredible. although the season-long arches were difficult on people who had perhaps just tuned in randomly on a Tuesday, they were the best part of the show...Lilly Kane's murder, the bus crash...clues were offered to us throughout the season to keep it engaging, and most of all, these were mysteries that enraged the main character and fueled everything that she did.

By no means was the show perfect - fans complained about season 2 (being overcomplicated, in many instances), and season 3 struggled in some areas (a common complaint being the relationships...but I personally quite like Piz)...at the end of the day however, it was still superior to 95% of everything else on mainstream television. The neo-noir stylings (oblique angles, use of colour, tone), the characterization (especially for veronica and keith), and the intelligent scripts made VM so watchable from week to week; an awesome diversion from reality.

this is one show I plan to buy on DVD in its entirety...and I'm banking on the creators putting together a VM movie for fans to enjoy...we need closure!

Has anyone ever told you that you are a TV junkie?

But then, you are a 'communications' major ... or is that the official rationale :>.
