me against the water filter

my water filter had been bonkers for a little while now and my mom finally helped me get a replacement filter the other night. excited and eager (YES - about a water filter), I jumped at the chance to change it.
I thought - simple enough...just gotta switch out the filter! but clearly...the purpose of this story is that it was incredibly difficult.
I felt like indiana jones trying to disarm some kind of historical artifact...some things had to be turned to the left, others to the right, and some just required hard brute force.

before I go on, there's something you need to know about me (if you didn't know it already).
I don't like leaving things halfway done - if I commit to something (no koosters, I will not commit to durian of any nature), I will go to great heights or lows to get something done.

after a good fifteen minutes - it was all done. well, nearly.
I only had to fit the lid back on - which was tricky because it consisted of aligning three sets of "holes" which holds the tubes that are attached to the water source as well as the power plug.

I could not...for the life of me...fit that lid on.

I pushed, I squeezed, I held the tubes in place with one hand and slammed the cover...but no, it wasn't working.

I insisted on staying calm...but I was also slamming the cover again and again...and it JUST WOULD NOT FIT. I tried the gentle route...but it just wouldn't fit properly. after about ten minutes of this, I realized that the cover was NEVER MEANT TO FIT PERFECTLY. the cover simply sits on the rest of the filter...with no need for it to fit snugly and perfectly.

*SIGH*.

It was too much of an object lesson for me to bear at the time.
