perceptions (part 2 of 3)

the halls are like
an old acquaintance of years gone by
it is awkward to meet again
yet familiar all the same

alphabetized wings that I no longer recognize
have not aged at all
although I assumed they would

what I remember most
are the moments of mutual excitement
awaiting the results of yet another essay or video contest
and being surprised at every turn
winning never felt so good

spare blocks were the best
and the luxury of a car (not mine of course)
always meant we could eat lunch out
sushi, parker place food
whatever we wanted that day

thank God for friends
who still remain to this day
some of the most amazing people I know
you are my "untitled" heroes

the long days of filming
songwriting, jamming
fundraising
editing, lots of editing
were more than worthwhile

thank you for the abundance of funny, sad, joyful memories
may we continue to be a source of encouragement in each other's lives

let your heart speak, words unwritten before
let your heart speak, lines true to who you are

Nice.

I visited my elementary school 2 weeks ago and got choked up.

Weird.
