like the taste of fresh pie from the oven

wednesday night at 8pm is a ritual in the chau household.(unless I happen to be out and about...the ritual gets postponed in that case)
the wormball and I tuck ourselves into the living room couch and get ready for the spectacular-spectacular (yes, double) magic that is "pushing daisies".
I've read many a review of the show, and one thing that every writer brings up is the indescribable sense of joy that just flutters from the tip of your toes to the top of your head when you watch it...and if that's being two-dimensional and vague; so be it. I don't care! All you REALLY need to know is that this show will bring a warmth to your heart that no television show has before; for those forty or so minutes on Wednesday nights, my outlook on life is just a little...brighter.

The facts are these: (teehee)
- Ned, the protagonist, is a pie maker and owner of the Pie Hole. He has a very special talent - he can wake the dead (and kill them again) with one touch. One touch brings life, another brings death. This very special talent is handy while solving mysteries...since you can ask the murdered what happened to them.
- The solving mysteries part helps create the A-plot lines...Ned partners up with Detective Emerson Cod, and childhood sweetheart Chuck (short for Charlotte) to solve these cases.
- About Chuck...she used to be dead. But Ned brought her back to life...and therefore cannot touch her again because a second touch would kill her. Let's just say this little complication makes their relationship a very...interesting one :) (and a fun one to watch!)

There's a whimsical nature to the Pushing Daisies world...surreal (such as the slightly 50s ambience and the vibrant reds and greens) but still rooted in reality. I'll try to pick a particular scene another time just to give more specifics on how amazing this show is...but for now, all I do is compare watching the show to these other things:

1) a hot cup of tea on a chilly snowy december day
2) holding your loved one's hand
3) breathing in the smell of fresh bread at your favourite bakery
4) snuggling into a fleece blanket
5) getting flowers
6) receiving snail mail from a good friend
7) sharing something...the giving of yourself

have I convinced you yet?

Seriously, you almost had me but when you said something about waking the dead... um, no thanks. Even Harry Potter learned that was a bad idea. :D
