a worthy plug - hope in shadows

For those who aren’t familiar, the Hope in Shadows project gives residents in the Downtown Eastside the opportunity to participate in a photography contest. This year, the theme was “Friends and Family”. I love it when art and advocacy cross paths…and when the Downtown Eastside, which is perceived as a place of crime and poverty, is celebrated for its vibrant community.

The 2009 Calendar is now out…if you’re downtown, you can purchase them from one of the licensed street vendors for $20. $10 of those dollars go directly to the vendor, and the other $10 goes towards the project. If you’re not downtown and would like one – please let me know and I’ll gladly help you buy one.
