to be in awe
last night, as I was walking to the clubhouse in my complex, I couldn't help but look up at the sky and stare for a little while. My sister had earlier made the observation that the moon was quite full, which lead me to look at it again once I was outside. (A full moon always makes me a bit nostalgic....I was born on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival...my mom always said that that's why my head is so big - it looks like the full moon)
As I looked upon the night sky, I began to see the beautiful glittering stars that surrounded the moon...they appeared to be caught in time: standing still for us to see and acknowledge their presence. I began to think: how often do we look up at the world above us? we're so preoccupied with our everyday goings and activities that it's a rare occasion to actually take a breather and look up at the creation that's all around us.
the beauty of the stars and moon are everlasting - giving us a glimpse of of a life beyond the setting sun that will not disappoint; that will not betray. they are symbols of hope in times of turmoil, giving us, the most finite and weak of creatures, a sense of what it might be like to experience heavenly grace.
when I look at the stars, I see someone else...
when I look at the stars, I feel like myself...
