the office

before I collapse unto my bed in utter exhaustion, let me briefly discuss life at the office
this past week I have been experiencing the 9-5 phenomenon of work...waking in the wee hours of the morning when dawn has yet to break and coming home in the darkness of night.
my job consists largely of data entry and responding to my supervisor's orders...and so, day in day out, i'm doing the same things over and over again.

this experience has lead to me thinking about fordism, and how the modern industrialized world has inadvertenly (or not) disconnected products from their producers. in an assembly line setting, you are in charge of one small aspect of the product (such as putting on the label), and have little or no knowledge of the rest of the process. this "disconnect" often transforms into a discontentment...and a lack of fulfillment. after all, you're the guy who puts the label on...you don't even make the shoe.

getting a glimpse of the 9-5 work schedule has made me appreciative of the time that I'm given. I find myself grabbing hold of the "crumbs from the table", and trying mighty hard to find some peace.

more to come later.

p.s I just watched "Babel"...review to come later too!
