old blue carpet - jill barber

There’s a stain on my perfect image of you
I never pegged you for the type who wouldn’t think to write a letter or two
Every morning I check for mail that may have come my way
But I’ve given up on that now, I check it every other day...

Truth is, I never really got to know you anyway
Just enough time to fall for you...

There's a stain on the carpet where you spilled your beer
I would hate to think all that's left of you is lying right here
I haven't heard from you and this is all you left behind
Just a stain on my carpet and me with you on my mind
With you on my mind...

I'm really growing to love the jazzy folk music from canada's own jill barber!
I don't know why this song resonated with me so much...I think it's just simply sweet and honest. I've been thinking a bit about missed opportunities today; especially with people. I've recently experienced meeting people that I would love getting to know better, but under the circumstances of time, accessibility and distance...it doesn't seem so possible. isn't it weird that the world is full of people that you can connect with? and the ones that you end up actually connecting with...you're lucky to have them because it takes a lot for two people to become friends.

p.s PJ, I haven't had the chance to analytically look at the coverage of "Dead End Streets" yet...so I'll let you know when I come up with more concrete comments. It has proved to quite interesting though, as it is rare for the mainstream media to be so avid in its coverage of homelessness. However, it is important to note that this is a "special series", and not integrated into usual news programming. In this way, it is "exceptional". And..."haha" on the reference to the dinner with R & N. You weirdo.
