early morning riser
There are not many souls on the 5:04 Skytrain leaving from Richmond-Brighouse.
The first train out always carries a mix of folks...
From finely-coiffed middle-aged men wearing perfectly coordinated suits...
To construction workers with an ever slight film of dust on their work clothes...
And a few oddballs like me - newspapers in tow - chomping down the morning news to see what's happening around the world today (at least, according to the media).
The romantic in me can't help but feel a bond of solidarity with these people.
By sitting together in this lonely train, we seem to say:
"No - we haven't really had breakfast; yes - we really should have slept earlier last night; no - we don't plan to keep our eyelids open during this 20 minute ride into downtown; but YES! at least we bear these silly first-world-middle-class troubles together!"
