recipe for a perfect holiday weekend

1) cook a fantastic sunday night dinner (to be followed by a walk on the dyke and a trip out to night market - apologies for lack of night market documentation. let's just say I spent $3 on food for both iris and I and we were very happy and satisfied at 11:45pm)

spot prawns from steveston - cooked simply with ginger, green onion, and a touch of chicken broth

basmati rice cooked in chicken broth, lime juice and zest; thai chicken with mango salsa, steamed broccoli with peanut sauce, and roasted eggplant (done with soy, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce)

2) an indulgent victoria day morning breakfast

a wide shot of the petit déjeuner (perhaps not so petit)

dark chocolate chip pancakes...the fluffiest pancakes I've made thus far (yes lambchops, practice DOES make perfect)

my darling coffee beans - I caved yesterday and drove out to west 4th to get them because I ran out and desperately wanted coffee for déjeuner today

triple berry sauce for the win! (blueberries, raspberries, and fresh strawberries cooked with sugar)

fresh fruit

scrambled eggs with onions, orange pepper, and yes - leftover chicken strips
