the little things

If you asked me 2 years ago whether I'd like to go on a run, a biking trip, or the Grouse Grind with you...I'd probably say no. I was never the active type - always a bookworm and geeky in various indoor capacities. But these days, I crave getting my body moving - all the endorphins, the sense of accomplishment...I love me some vitamin d-filled days. I'll talk about what caused that change of heart in a another post - but for the purpose of "the little things", let me say this:

I love the rush of joy that electrifies your entire body when you realize that you're close to the end. yesterday, I went on a 5k run around my neighbourhood (mostly on the dyke) - and about halfway through, I was about to call it quits. It was getting windy and I wasn't feeling my best in the morning...but I decided to soldier on because I knew just how fantastic it would feel when I finished it. In the last half km, I just gunned it as much as I could - and for those few minutes I focused simply on running. No other distractions - forget the job worries, school busyness, boy problems...they were all gone from my head. All that my heart and head were set on was finishing that run - and boy did it feel good when I did.
