sharing the hope of God

today, my mom was just talking about how work has been for her these past couple of days. she met a lady from new brunswick who had recently moved to vancouver. as they chatted, the lady shared with my mom that she had yet to make any friends here...and my mom told her, in the bubbliest of ways, I'm sure: "I'll be your friend!". She then invited the lady to come visit her the next time she's at the mall, and have a cup of coffee with her.

I know these stories aren't particularly significant to my mother, but to me, they're precious. For her, it's just how she is naturally: friendly, loving, welcoming. For me, everytime I hear her talk about it, I realize how much I have to learn from her.

funnily enough, "PJ Jr" preached about sharing the hope of God with those around us today. This is one area I have reeeeeaaaal difficulty in, largely because I'm socially inept and also because I'm fearful that the person listening would just laugh at me. I think I have a fairly firm grip on what I believe in, and I have no problem defending the Word of God when the time comes, but I do shy away from stepping forward and just simply share about my personal testimony. I think God is calling me to really put that together...to write down how He's worked in my life - and to be brave about talking about it. It's one thing to defend your religion through persuasive argument (and genuine passion), but it's another to be vulnerable and express God's work in your life.

something to keep me accountable of, invisible blog community!
