survival guide for wannabe nerds
when nerding up, one must be in possession of certain sanity-maintaining devices.
this is merely my own...this is a highly personal affair, so there are no absolutes.
1) I'm big on reward - so I always have diversions set up for after I finish something. after four hours of hard core note-taking, I would think it fair to watch one episode of law and order SVU (my current obssession...I don't know why.)
2) Close proximity to tea/coffee. This is a given.
3) Close proximity to a shower. When sleepy? Shower! When you've realized you haven't for two days? Shower!
4) A Sushi Prize. Otherwise known as - "If I finish everything...I will let myself have sushi from Takeya for dinner."
5) An MSN friend. Note that the sentence was written in singular. Funnily enough, having one person to talk to while, note-taking for example, helps you feel like you're still "having fun", but you're actually doing a lot of studying. this is how I got through a really long article about the arts in the early modern era last night.
6) Don't consume candy and junk...that'll just make you feel bloated and gross.
