maybe waiting is the hardest part
anticipating, pacing
hoping in the end that it will all work out

maybe sometimes
all we can do is lay down
our expectations of someone else

putting to rest
what we want to gain
the words that want to be heard
the sweetness yet to be felt

maybe all we need to do
is learn to wait a little while

wait for love
to come around the corner and surprise us

putting to rest
our selfish ambitions
our desire to be accepted
our silly dreams of the way it's supposed to be
